Better Bloodless Technologies
"I would love to get rid of the {pneumatic} tourniquet"
-- E. Murphy, Community Medical Center, MT
Dedicated to staying at the forefront of the medical device industry
by offering innovated equipment and versatile solutions to today's
surgical community, OHK Medical Devices has developed HemaClear,
an innovative alternative to the Esmarch and pneumatic tourniquets.
A lightweight silicone ring that both exsanguinates and occludes
the limb as it is unrolled, HemaClear represents a new benchmark
technology for bloodless surgery that replaces a 100-year-old
practice. It also replaces the surgical stockinet, by providing
a sterile field covering.
HemaClear and related products are an entirely new class of orthopedic
surgical aids meant to improve the visibility, sterility, and
simplicity of procedures for the foot, hand, ankle, knee, wrist,
and elbow.
Faster, more efficient, and clearer than current blood removal
techniques, all HemaClear technologies are designed to improve
patient safety and reduce operative time and costs worldwide.
How it Works
Simplicity In Motion
HemaClear brings cutting edge technology to the operating table
with the elegant simplicity that defines true innovation.
The surgeon simply places the ring on the fingers (or toes) of
the patient and then pulls the pull straps proximally. The silicone
ring rolls up the limb while the stockinet sleeve covers it,
exerting enough pressure to remove the blood and then block it
at the occlusion site. Once applied, HemaClear becomes a sterile,
single use, latex-free surgical field cover.
With application times clocked at less than 12 seconds, it’s
just that simple.
Three Functions: One Product
• Exsanguination (95% blood removal compared to 65%)
• Arterial Flow Occlusion
• Sterile Stockinet“ One less thing on the IV pole"

Advantages
Commitment To Excellence " HC saves on E-SMARCH bandage, Pneumatic Tourniquet and padding."
-- Monique Kuzmich, RN, BSN
Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, NHOHK knows how committed surgeons are
to helping patients manage their health. We share your commitment with a passion
for providing the most advanced options for treating a broad range of clinical
indications. HemaClear was designed to supplement this commitment to patient
care by making it easier for the surgical community to perform the procedures
that enrich people’s lives.
The HemaClear commitment to excellence focuses on improving the features of
today’s blood removal technologies. Our product advantages deliver simpler,
clearer, and safer benefits that maximize operative efficiency along with improving
patient care.
Simplicity
"
That is amazing"…. "They hate those {pneumatic} tourniquets"
-- July Barley, RN,
Lebanon VA Medical Center, PA
Both Exsanguinates & Occludes With One Simple Application
150% more effective than standard techniques, such as the Esmarch and pneumatic
blood removal systems, this simple, common-sense product demonstrates what
good technology should do: improve products and processes with practical
innovation that saves time and reduces operative costs.
Simplicity In Design Leads To Efficiency In Application
•
Applied in Under 12 Seconds
• Saves Up To 15 Minutes From Procedures
• Reduces OR Costs By Replacing Up To 7 Items
• One Simple Solution Applied In Less Than 12 Seconds
• Potentially Decreases Operative Costs associated with:
- Infections ($15,000-$30,000)
- Blood Transfusions Costing $800
• Maintenance Free
Clarity
The most crucial aspect of the HemaClear system is the clarity it provides
through superior exsanguination and arterial flow occlusion. Clinical results
demonstrate HemaClear provides up to 95% blood removal (compared to 60% with
current technologies), providing a clear surgical field for enhanced surgical
visibility. Because bloodless surgery is essential to modern orthopedic procedures,
HemaClear was designed to make the invisible visible with unparalleled clarity.
By facilitating the accurate identification of fine anatomical structures,
saving hemostasis time, and substantially reducing blood loss, HemaClear
equips the surgical arena with a fine precision tool for the 21st century.
• 95% blood removal
• Less Blood Reduces The Clotting That Can Lead To Pulmonary Embolism
Sterility/Safety
HemaClear is a single-use, sterile product that eliminates the need for cuff
reuse that is typical in surgical procedures on the limbs. This is especially
pertinent in the case of tourniquets used to occlude flow to the leg with
placement in the groin and then reused on subsequent patients (sometimes
still stained with soiled blood and betadine), which can often lead to surgical
site contamination (1).
In fact, infection remains a major post-operative complication; it is present
in 2-3% of total joint replacement surgeries and costs approximately 3-5
times more to treat in these cases.
With over 70,000 procedures performed worldwide and no reported complications
due to nerve damage, the HemaClear blood removal system offers the utmost
in safety assurance.
HemaClear also delivers consistent and factory calibrated blood control to
orthopedic patients. By providing a consistent pressure delivery system,
HemaClear offers more control to surgeons and may reduce the risk of tourniquet
paralysis associated with traditional tourniquet devices. In fact, the pressure
applied on the limb is independent of the application technique, unlike traditional
methods, which vary based on the specific OR capital equipment.
